Great Expectations | A Retail Store at Citypoint

My Retail Store in Brooklyn

Out of an affinity for the Dickens novel and it’s imagery, Pip & Estella was born. Sana searched city to city to find a work of art for the Pip & Estella retail store that would capture the essence of the brand and compliment the store’s merchandising. In rural Massachusetts, what a beauty she found – an 1859 Cook painting, worn and weathered to perfection – her “Miss Havisham”.

Retail Decorating Tips

Whether you’re decorating your shop, trade show space or even a flea market or fair stall, consider the story you want to tell. Here, of course, Great Expectation led the theme with antique elements and worn finishes but what story should your brand tell?

  1. Create mood. A signature scented candle, or flowers to accent your brand colors help create a memorable experience for your customers.
  2. Choose wall colors wisely. While making an impression is important, sometimes simplicity makes the the biggest visual impact. Allow room for your products to shine.
  3. Make it comfortable. If you’re selling anything related to the home, why not make it feel like home? That goes for furniture, housewares, apparel and jewelry. We use these objects in our daily lives and associate them with…yes you guessed it – home.
